I'd like you to read this article for Spring Break, The Benefits of Bilingualism from the New York Times, March 17th.
As you can see, there are many benefits to being bilingual, can you think of more?

I like to study two languages because they make me feel closer to the people. When I go out of Spain, I am proud to be able to understand me with people and know their way of life, their customs, their ideas,.... It is a real pleasure to be able to communicate, I would love to learn more languages and believe that I am on the right track.
One of my greatest satisfactions, it was when for the first time I could read an whole book in English. Also I feel proud when I go to other countries and can communicate with most people in a common language
