A note

Dear NI1,

For this weekend I'd like you to write down two notes. Choose from these ideas:

1- You are going on holiday and a friend is going to feed your cats. Write instructions on how often s/he should feed them, where the food is, etc.

2. Write instructions for using a computer program you know.

3. You have a new flatmate. S/he is moving in while you are on holiday. Write some instructions for her/him about general things s/he needs to know.

Have also a look at pages 82 and 83 from your workbook.

GIVING INSTRUCTIONS

To feed the cats when I’m on holidays
I guess you won't find take care my cats difficult because, you know, cats are fairly independent. Anyway here you are some instructions to follow just once a day.
- Take two small brown bowls from the kitchen cupboard.
- Put them on the floor in the kitchen corner, close to the back door.
- Take a milk carton from the fridge
- Fill one of the bowl with some milk.
- Put the milk carton back to the fridge
- Take a cat food packet from the kitchen cupboard.
- Fill the other bowl with some cat food and put the carton back to the cupboard.
- And don't worry about anything else, cats will go in and out at home through a rounded hole at the back door. I hope they'll survive.
Thanks a lot and don't forget close the front door when you leave home, please.

- Click on the Nero icon
- In the Nero screen click on the CD icon (top on the right)
- Put the cursor in FAVOURITES, some other icons will be showed.
- Select the COPYDISC icon and click on it.
- Take the CD I lent you and put it into the disc drive.
- The RECORD icon will be lighted. Click on it and wait.
- After some moments the CD drive will be ejected.
- Take the CD from the drive and put it into its box.
- Take an unrecorded CD and put it into the CD driver.
- Click on the RECORD icon again and wait.
- After some moments The CD will be ejected again.

Dear Granny:
As you are going to look after my catty on holidays, I would like you to follow some steps to make it happy:
First of all, you should pay attention to his food and water: it needs to have always chicken fodder on its bowl and fresh water on another bowl, next to it.
You should give it malt once a week. It’s in a thin tube on the kitchen shelf, and it’s to prevent hair balls. The cat will like it, it’s like a sweet for it!
It has a box with sand as an WC, and you should clean it every day. It’s the worst of having a pet…
You don’t have to give it any bath because cats clean themselves. If you want to, you can brush its hair when you want. It would enjoy it, and you could like it as well!
If there are any problems, don’t doubt on phoning me!
I write you here the vet number (91222333), but I’m sure there won’t be any problem.
Eventually, the most important thing is to give it care! And thank you very much!

First of all Welcome my dear new flatmates!!. Your move has been a good news for me, the flat is very big and sometimes I feel quite alone! On the other hand I am going to tell you some important questions.
Our porter`s name is Angelines although sometimes she could be rude, she will help you as many time as you need it.
Besides, it´s important to know I have one copy of the house´s keys if you need it, please take it. It is in the drawer.
Secondly all the machines in the flat are in good conditions so You shouldn´t have any problem.
Finally I am going to meet you in a few days. Take care.

Hi María!
Thanks a lot for being here looking after my loved cat Kun! As you did it 8 monts ago for the last time, I´ll remember you some things:

-The bowls are on the kitchen floor, under the window.

-You can find the cat food bag into the cupboard next to the fridge.

-Please keep the bowls always full of feed. You know cats don´t eat when we want but when they decide!

-He has to have fresh water always ready, so if you can´t go home every day, you can put water in more then one bowls (you can two or three into the sideboard opposite the oven)

-You can change the sand every day days, but if you can´t, it may stay three or four days.

-As you know, kun is very amorous and he loves to be stroked and talked to. So be careful with your tights if you dont want them to be broken!

-And finally, if you want to make it happy, you can give it a tidbit. I keep a tin into the fridge. You can give him a spoonful at the most once a day.

Kisses and thank´s again! See you soon!

P.S: Be careful of the windows! If you open one of them, you have to be keeping an eye on Kun. He likes to walk ont the edge of the window and he can fall down!

Hi Mark,
Thanks you very much for looking after my cat Mimi when I am on holiday in China. You have to feed it at afternoon, because my flatmate comes home late from her work.
I thing it will be easy and won’t take you much time. In the kitchen you have two containers on the floor, the blue one is the feeding trough and the green one is the drinking trough. In the feeding trough put some cat food and in the drinking trough pour some water. The tins of cat food are in the second cupboard. Remember that you just have to put half of the food from the tin to Mimi because she is still small.
See you in a couple of weeks. Call me if there are any problems.

Hi Fernando!

Welcome home! How are you? I hope your move went well. I am writing some instructions to you, for you to feel more comfortable at home.
Make sure you turn on the water heater before you have a shower and remember that you have to turn it off when you’ve finished.

You’ll need the mailbox key, it’s in the kitchen, on the microwave. Don’t forget to check it daily, because I’m waiting an urgent letter. Please, phone me if you find an important letter!

Instructions for electrical appliances are in the living-room. Try to avoid using the oven, it doesn’t work well. Finally, whatever you do, please don’t open the snake cage. It has food and water for two weeks and if you open its cage, it can be dangerous.

See you in ten days. Call me if you need anything.

Carmen.
