Georgia on my mind by Ray Charles

Born Ray Charles Robinson (he changed his name in deference to the boxer Sugar Ray Robinson) in Albany, Georgia in 1930, Ray Charles has become an American icon. He was a singer, pianist, saxophonist, band leader and composer who died on Thursday aged 73. He had a profound impact on the development of popular music; a master of styles as diverse as jazz and country, his pioneering fusion of gospel and blues laid the basis for soul music. All this despite losing his eyesight at seven years of age after suffering from glaucoma.

Georgia, Georgia,
The whole day through
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind

I'm say Georgia
Georgia
A song of you
Comes as sweet and clear
As moonlight through the pines

Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you

I said Georgia,
Ooh Georgia, no peace I find
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind

Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you

Georgia,
Georgia,
No peace, no peace I find
Just this old, sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind

I said just an old sweet song,
Keeps Georgia on my mind
