Here is some information about Braille language, the universally accepted system of writing for the blind. It translated into almost every language in almost every country across the globe. But it didn’t actually start out as a tool for the blind. Jessica Oreck details the surprising wartime origins of Braille.

Women's day
Hi,
Today I'd like to remind you of the importance of women in science. Why not visiting
Women Rock Science
I'd also like you to have a look at these documents in honour of the women who were part of the 27th Generation in Spain. Those were women who actively took part in the literary movement of the 1920's in Spain, but were never given credit.

Georgia on my mind by Ray Charles
Born Ray Charles Robinson (he changed his name in deference to the boxer Sugar Ray Robinson) in Albany, Georgia in 1930, Ray Charles has become an American icon. He was a singer, pianist, saxophonist, band leader and composer who died on Thursday aged 73. He had a profound impact on the development of popular music; a master of styles as diverse as jazz and country, his pioneering fusion of gospel and blues laid the basis for soul music. All this despite losing his eyesight at seven years of age after suffering from glaucoma.

Fragments of memory. Shards of poetry. Scattered relics of relationships.
Sarah Kane's starkly beautiful play threads together four frayed voices into a powerful tapestry of words.
English Theatre Madrid presents a dynamic new production of Crave. The company does justice to Kane's dark lyricism, while also showing the shafts of bleak humour that break through and illuminate this dark play of the soul.

As a result
- Westminster bubble
An insular community of politicians, journalists and civil servants who seem to be out of touch with the experiences of British public.
Acronyms:
- YOLO: "you only live once"
- FOMO: "fear of missing out", the sinking feeling you get when imagining that other people have more exciting lives than you, often resulting in -and perpetuated by- excessive interest in social media.
